Set up building sweep zones to identify the areas Safety Officers need to inspect and clear during an emergency or drill that uses the Building Sweep response type.

About building sweep zones
A building zone is an area of your site that Safety Officers physically inspect during a building sweep. Zones can represent areas such as floors, wings, departments, rooms, or other sections of your building that need to be checked during an evacuation.
During a building sweep, Safety Officers use the EmergencyOS app to update each zone as it is inspected. This allows your team to confirm which areas have been cleared and identify zones where someone may need assistance.
Set up building sweep zones
- From the left sidebar in EmergencyOS, click the Settings
icon, then select Sites.
- Select the site where you want to set up building sweep zones.
- Select the Emergency Settings tab.
- Under Building Sweep Zones, click Configure.

In the Edit Building Sweep Zones side panel, take one of the following actions:
- To edit an existing zone, click the Edit
icon next to it.
- To create a new zone, click New Building Sweep Zone.
- To edit an existing zone, click the Edit

Configure the following settings for the zone:
- Name: Enter a descriptive name that helps Safety Officers identify the area they need to inspect.
- Targeted Sweep Time in Minutes: Enter the expected amount of time, in minutes, required to inspect and clear the zone.
- Click Save. Repeat steps 5 to 7 for any additional zones.
- Click Save to close the side panel, then click Save again in the top-right corner of the screen.
Delete a building sweep zone
- From the left sidebar in EmergencyOS, click the Settings
- Select the site where you want to delete the building sweep zone.
- Select the Emergency Settings tab.
- Under Building Sweep Zones, click Configure to open the Edit Building Sweep Zones side panel.
- Next to zone you want to delete, click the Delete
icon.
- Click Yes to confirm.
