Add an emergency profile

You can create emergency profiles for specific emergencies to alert your employees or visitors of what to do and where to go.

Who can use this feature?

  • Users with the Account Administrator or Site Administrator role, or any user with permission to manage Emergency Profiles
  • Available on the Corporate tier

Add an emergency profile

  1. From the left sidebar in EmergencyOS, click Manage, then select Emergency Profiles.

  2. Click Add Emergency Profile.
  3. In Emergency Profile Name, enter a name for the profile.
  4. From the Sites drop-down menu, select the site for the profile.
  5. Fill in details for "Configure Profile". For more information, see Configure profile settings.
  6. Click Save to add the emergency profile.
  7. (Optional) After you save the profile, you can customize the following options:
    • Email and Mobile Start/End Messages: You can choose to enable email and mobile start and end messages, in the event of an emergency. Once you enable any of these options, you can edit the message that is sent and who receives them. For more information, see Configure emergency messaging for an emergency profile.
    • Mobile - Status Request: This feature is available as a paid  add-on. If the emergency profiles response type is "Roll Call", a two-way communication channel via SMS will be established between safety officers and all participants.

Configure profile settings

  • Emergency Type: Select whether the profile can be used for an emergency, drill, or both.
    • Emergency: A real emergency event that your visitors or employees need to be aware of.
    • Drill: A drill is used for training employees on how to respond to a real emergency.
  • Nature of Emergency: Select the nature of emergency that will apply for the profile. If the natures of emergency do not apply to your site, select other and you can customize a new nature of emergency (Ex. Truck blocking driveway). 
  • Participants: Choose the participants that will partake in the emergency. You can choose participants by:

    To edit the participants list, you must first save the emergency profile.

    • Lists: Include signed in visitors, signed in employees, or everyone in the employee list.
    • Reports to: Include participants who report to a specific user.
    • Employee Tags: Include employees with specific tags.
    • Specific Employees: Include the names of specific employees.
  • Send List of Signed In Visitors to Host: Select who the hosts are notified of:
    • Disabled: Hosts will not be notified of any visitors who are still signed in.
    • Hosts own visitors only: Hosts will only be notified of visitors who are signed in to see them.
    • All Site Visitors: Hosts will be notified of all signed in visitors.
  • Expected Duration: Turn on this setting and enter a number in minutes if you want to set an estimated time for how long this emergency event is active for. After the emergency event, you can then compare the expected duration with the actual event duration on the Mustering Events page.
  • Response Type: Select how employees or visitors must respond to the emergency.
    • Roll Call: Require participants to evacuate to a safe location. As participants arrive, Safety Officers can mark them as having arrived.
      • Mustering Points: If you have selected "Roll Call", you will need to select mustering points to be used in case this emergency is started. To learn how to create mustering point, see Designating a Mustering Point.
    • Building Sweep: Require Safety Officers to sweep and clear different zones in your building to ensure all employees and visitors have exited.
    • Alert Only: Notify participants of an emergency, but will not require them to take further action.
      • Block Visitor Kiosk: If "Alerts Only" is selected, you can turn this option on to disable the VisitorOS kiosk. This will prevent visitors for signing in until the emergency is over.
