EPSON Printer Setup Guide (For Cellular iPads)

Introduction

The EPSON color printer can be used to connect with cellular iPads, so that badges can be printed using the iLobby app.

There are 2 methods of setting up the EPSON printer to connect to a cellular iPad, which will be outlined in this guide.

Please note: This is only applicable for 10.9" iPads and 12.9/13" iPad Pros.

📌 Before you begin

You can set up your EPSON printer using either a hardwired (Ethernet) connection or Wi-Fi. If you are using Wi-Fi, please note that the Wi-Fi adapter is not pre-installed in the printer — it arrives separately in a maintenance kit that also contains the ink cartridges. Make sure you have the Wi-Fi adapter and ink cartridges from the maintenance kit before starting your setup

Method 1: Ethernet adapter

  • Connect power cable to ethernet adapter (Redpark Adapter, can be purchased through the iLobby Store), and USB-C cable from adapter to iPad.

  • Navigate to the iPad's ethernet settings and setup manual IP address:
    • 169.254.143.231
    • Subnet mask: 255.255.0.0
    • Save
  • On the printer, go to Menu > General Settings > Network Settings > Advanced > TCP/IP > Select/Obtain IP Address and change to Manual.
  • Update IP address to 169.254.143.232
  • Subnet: 255.255.0.0
  • Update printer IP in portal, test print.

If you don't want to use an ethernet adapter, and would like to instead connect your iPad to the EPSON's direct Wi-Fi network, please take the following steps using the Epson Wi-Fi adapter (included in your Epson kit).

Method 2: Wi-Fi Adapter

A cellular iPad can also be connected to the Epson through the Epson's Wi-Fi adapter. It is provided with the Epson Starter-Kit. The adapter is a USB stick that goes into the back of the EPSON printer and allows the Epson to connect to Wi-Fi.

  1. Connect the Wi-Fi adapter to the printer.

This can be done on the iPad by opening SettingsWi-Fi > and connecting to the SSID that appears on the printer (Default SSID should be similar to 'DIRECT-bB-EPSON-CW-C4000u', the password needed is also displayed on the printer screen).
  4. Once connected, press Complete on the printer.
  5. On the iPad, press the Home button to go back to the main menu, and go back into MenuGeneral Settings:
