EmergencyOS quick start guide: Setting up an evacuation response

This guide shows you how to quickly set up an evacuation response so your site is ready to alert employees and signed-in visitors during a drill or actual emergency.

Who can use this feature?

  • Users with the Account Administrator or Site Administrator role, or any user with permission to manage Site settings and Emergency Profiles
  • Available on the Corporate tier

Step 1: Set up your mustering points

A mustering point is a safe location where employees and visitors can go to until an emergency is over.

  1. From the left sidebar in EmergencyOS, click the Settings Screenshot of the settings icon. icon, then select Sites.

  2. Select the site where you want to set up a mustering point.
  3. Select the Emergency Settings tab, then under "Mustering Points", click Configure.

  4. In the "Edit Mustering Points" side panel, take one of the following actions:
    • To edit an existing mustering point, click the Edit edit_cion.png icon.
    • To create a new mustering point, click New Mustering Point.
  5. Fill in the following information:
    • Name: Enter a clear, descriptive name for the mustering point so employees and visitors can easily identify its location.
    • Address: Enter the address of your mustering point. Then adjust the circle on the map to define the exact mustering area.
    • Estimated Time to Mustering Point in Minutes: Enter the number of minutes it should take everyone to reach the mustering point.
    • Safety Officer: Assign one or more Safety Officers who will be responsible for confirming that employees and visitors have arrived at the mustering point.
  6. Click Save to close the side panel, then click Save again in the top-right corner of the screen.

Step 2: Add an emergency profile

The emergency profile will provide employees and visitors with information about what to do during a drill or real emergency. The steps below outline the essential details you need to fill in to get everything set up.

  1. From the left sidebar in EmergencyOS, click Manage, then select Emergency Profiles.

  2. Click Add Emergency Profile.
  3. In Emergency Profile Name, enter a name for the profile.
  4. From the Sites drop-down menu, select the site for the profile.

  5. Under "Emergency Type", select whether the profile is for an emergency, drill, or both.
  6. Under "Nature of Emergency", select the type of emergency for this profile.

  7. Under "Mustering Points", make sure only the mustering points you want to include are listed. To remove a mustering point, click the x icon next to its name.

  8. Click Save.
