VisitorOS release notes – October 2026

We are pleased to announce the following new functionality in our October 2026 release!

VisitorOS ID Validation

Who can use this feature?

  • Security teams, front desk teams and facility managers who make entry decisions and review and action security risks
  • Included in the VisitorOS Enterprise tier or with the ID Validation add-on

ID Validation scans a visitor’s ID and uses AI-powered workflows to check whether that ID is authentic and still valid. When used alongside VisitorOS Watchlists and Visitor Approval functionality, the answer is turned into something a site can act on.

After a valid scan completes, VisitorOS runs a set of AI-assisted authenticity checks and normalizes the results into four findings:

  • Expired ID: The document is past its expiry date.
  • Authenticity Concern: One or more security checks indicate the ID may not be trustworthy.
  • Information Mismatch: ID information does not match across security checks.
  • Possible Copy of ID: The presented ID may be a copy, printout, screenshot, or displayed on a screen rather than the original physical document.

Validation covers roughly 10,000 document types. VisitorOS records a visitor whose ID passes every check as Valid ID. It logs each finding against the visit record alongside the ID scan, surfaces it on the Visitor Log, and makes it available as matching criteria in Watchlists.

Key benefits:

  • Stronger security at the point of entry: Every visitor who signs in has had their ID checked for authenticity and expiry, so the site verifies identity rather than assuming it.
  • Fake and altered documents surface at sign-in: VisitorOS flags authenticity concerns, information mismatches and screen or printout copies while the visitor is still at the kiosk.
  • Expiry becomes enforceable: An out-of-date ID triggers the same review or denial path as any other finding.
  • Findings drive action, not just a record: Each finding can trigger a denial, a notification, or an aborted sign-in through Watchlists.
  • A human stays in the loop: Sites with Visitor Approval can override an automated decision rather than send a visitor away.
  • Audit-ready: Every result lands on the visitor record and in the CSV export, so a site can show auditors which documents it checked and what it did about each finding.
  • AI-assisted checks: Machine learning models read the scanned document, and rules confirm it against roughly 10,000 known ID types.
  • No new hardware: Validation runs on the existing iPad kiosk camera, with no external readers or UV lights.
  • Multi-site control: Validation watchlists span sites, and sites without the feature enabled skip evaluation.
