If your iPad is having issues connecting to the internet through Wi-Fi or cellular data, try resetting its network settings.
Common signs that your iPad is offline
Your iPad is most likely not connected to the internet if the following are true:
- On the Welcome screen of the VisitorOS app, you see a red dot in the bottom-right corner.
- The Devices page shows that the iPad is offline.
- Visitor logs are not updating.
Before you start
Check the following before you reset your iPad's network settings:
- If you are attempting to use Wi-Fi, check that you are connecting to a reliable network.
- If your iPad uses cellular data, check your carrier’s network status first by using the links below, or visit your carrier’s website if it is not listed:
Reset iPad network settings
- On the iPad, quit the VisitorOS app.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap General, tap Transfer or Reset iPad, tap Reset, then tap Reset Network Settings.
- Enter the iPad's passcode, then tap Reset.
Connect your iPad to Wi-Fi
If your iPad uses Wi-Fi to connect to the internet, follow the steps below after you reset your iPad's network settings.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Wi-Fi, then turn on Wi-Fi.
- Tap the Wi-Fi name, then enter the password.
Connect your iPad to cellular data
If your iPad uses cellular data to connect to the internet, follow the steps below after you reset your iPad's network settings.
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap Cellular Data, then verify that cellular data is turned on.
- Your iPad may require data roaming if you are outside your carrier's normal coverage area. If you purchased your own cellular data plan, your carrier might charge extra fees when data roaming is on. To avoid unexpected charges, check with your carrier before turning on data roaming. To turn it on, tap Cellular Data Options, then turn on Data Roaming.
