Set up your Brother HL-L3270CDW/HL-L3230CDW printer

Learn how to set up your Brother HL-L3270CDW or HL-L3230CDW printer. Then connect the printer to your Wi-Fi to obtain the printer's IP address.

Set up the printer

To unbox your printer and install the toner cartridges and badge paper, follow steps 1 to 4 in Brother's Quick Setup Guide.

Important:

Use pre-cut 4x6 badge paper. To purchase more badge paper, go to the FacilityOS Store.

Configure badge paper settings

After you load the badge paper and turn on the printer, configure the tray settings so the printer uses the correct paper type and size.

  1. Press the up ↑ and down ↓ arrow keys to select General Setup, then press OK.
  2. Select Tray Settings, then press OK.
  3. Select Paper Type, then press OK.
  4. Select Thick Paper, then press OK.
  5. In "Tray Settings", Select Paper Size, then press OK.
  6. Select A4, then press OK.
  7. Press Cancel.

Connect the printer to your Wi-Fi

  1. Press the up ↑ and down ↓ arrow keys to select General Setup, then press OK.
  2. Select Network, then press OK.
  3. Select WLAN, then press OK.
  4. Select Setup Wizard, then press OK.
  5. Select the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to, then press OK.

    Important:

    The printer must connect to the same Wi-Fi network as your kiosk (iPad).

  6. Enter the Wi-Fi password, then press OK. When the printer is connected, the green "WiFi" button on the printer turns solid green.

Obtain the IP address

After the printer is connected to your network, find the printer IP address. You need this IP address to connect the printer to VisitorOS and your kiosk.

  1. Press the up ↑ and down ↓ arrow keys to select General Setup, then press OK.
  2. Select Network, then press OK.
  3. Select TCP/IP, then press OK.
  4. Find "IP Address", then note the IP address shown on the printer.
