Set up a virtual kiosk

You can set up a virtual kiosks to let visitors sign in when a physical kiosk is not an option. They generate a printable QR code and a shareable link. Visitors scan the QR code with their phone or open the link to sign-in.

Required tier Virtual Kiosk is an add-on that can be purchased on the Corporate, Enhanced, or Enterprise tier. What is my tier?
Required permission Manage devices. This permission is included by default for the account administrator and site administrator role. What is my role?

Add a new virtual kiosk

  1. From the left sidebar in VisitorOS, click Manage, then select Devices.

  2. Click New Device, then select Virtual Kiosk.

  3. In the "Virtual Kiosk" panel, turn on Is Active.

  4. From the site drop-down menu, select where you want to use the virtual kiosk.
  5. In the Device Name field, enter a name for the virtual kiosk.
  6. Optionally, in the Tag field, enter one or more keywords to apply to the virtual kiosk. This can be used when filtering your devices on the "Devices" page.
  7. If you use badge printing, choose how to print badges for visitors who sign in with the virtual kiosk:
    • Use First Available Live Kiosk prints badges using the first available online kiosk at the selected site.
    • Select a Kiosk with a Printer Connected lets you choose a specific kiosk at the selected site to print badges.

      Note:

      A physical kiosk must be online to appear in the list.  

  8. Click Save.

Download QR code or share link

After you add a virtual kiosk, a QR code is automatically generated. You can download the QR code to print it, or share its link.

  1. From the left sidebar in VisitorOS, click Manage, then select Devices.
  2. Select the virtual kiosk.
  3. Take one or both of the following actions:
    • To print the QR code, click Download as Image, and then print the downloaded image.
    • To share its sign-in link, copy the link that appears next to QR Code and send it to those visiting your site.
