Add the VisitorOS app to Microsoft Teams

You can add the VisitorOS app to Microsoft Teams so hosts receive direct messages when visitors select them during sign-in.

Required add-on VisitorOS for Microsoft Teams. This add-on is included by default on the Enterprise tier. What is my tier?
Required permission You must have access to the Microsoft Teams admin center.

Important:

Custom app uploading must be enabled in your Teams environment. For setup instructions, see Microsoft’s article Enable custom Teams apps.

Add the VisitorOS app to Teams

  1. Download the TeamsAppManifest.zip file from here.
  2. Sign in to the Microsoft Teams admin center.
  3. In the left sidebar, click Teams apps, then select Manage apps.

  4. In the upper-right corner, click Actions, then select Upload an app.

  5. In "Upload a custom app", click Upload.
  6. Upload the "TeamsAppManifest.zip" file you downloaded in step 1.
  7. In the left sidebar, click Teams apps, then select Setup policies.

  8. If you want the VisitorOS app installed across your organization, in the "App setup policies" table, select Global (Org-wide default). Otherwise, select your own custom policy.
  9. In the "Add installed apps" panel, search for VisitorOS and select the app.
  10. Click Add.

  11. Sign in to Teams.
  12. Find the team you want to add the bot to, click the three horizontal dots Screenshot of the three horizontal dots icon. icon, then select Manage team.

  13. Click the Apps tab, then click Get more apps.
  14. Under "Added by your org", locate "VisitorOS" and click Open.
  15. Select the channel you want to add VisitorOS to, and click Go.
  16. In "About this bot", click OK to confirm that you understand that the VisitorOS app only sends notifications and cannot read your chats.
  17. In the channel, you will see a message that says "VisitorOS", click Post to finish adding the VisitorOS app to Teams. It can take up to 48 hours for changes to apply.

Troubleshoot hosts not receiving notifications in Teams

If hosts are not receiving notifications in Teams, check if the host is in the address book and if the VisitorOS app is added to the correct Teams channel.

Check if the host is in the address book

  1. From the left sidebar in VisitorOS, click Manage, then select Address Book.

  2. In the Search bar, search for the host by name or email address.
  3. If the host is not listed, add them to the address book. To learn how, see Add hosts to the address book.
  4. If the host is listed, check that their email address matches the email address they use for their Teams account. If the email address does not match, update the host's email. To learn how, see Manage the address book.

Check if the VisitorOS app is added to the correct Teams channel

  1. Sign in to Teams.
  2. Find the team you want to check, click the three horizontal dots Screenshot of the three horizontal dots icon. icon next to its name, then select Manage team.

  3. Click the Apps tab.
  4. In the Search bar, search for "VisitorOS". If the app does not appear in the search results, add it to the channel. To learn how, see steps 11 to 17 in Add the VisitorOS app to Teams.

Contact support to turn on Teams notifications

In rare cases, Teams notifications might be disabled for your site. To enable them, contact the FacilityOS support team.
