AI Receiving Assistant is built into the LogisticsOS Smart Scanner app for iOS and Android. It helps mailroom and receiving teams capture package details from shipping labels with less manual entry.

What AI Receiving Assistant does

When parcels are scanned, AI Receiving Assistant helps by automatically reading the shipping label and entering the details into the parcel record in LogisticsOS for later sorting and routing. AI Receiving Assistant does this by:

  • Capturing clear label images during scanning.
  • Extracting label fields, such as recipient name, tracking number, and carrier, using AI-powered optical character recognition (OCR).
  • Matching the recipient to your existing directory or database.
  • Supporting all carrier label formats, such as USPS, FedEx, and UPS.

This allows receiving teams to process hundreds or even thousands of packages a day.

How it works

AI Receiving Assistant is used during receiving and supports the handoff from scanning to sorting.

  1. In the Smart Scanner app, a staff member scans the parcel label.
  2. AI-powered OCR is used to extract key details such as the recipient, tracking number, and carrier.
  3. AI processes the OCR-extracted text and images as soon as a photo of the label is captured. This streamlines the sorting process when staff members are ready to sort packages.

Sort and route with confidence

Once labels are captured and processed with the Smart Scanner app, parcels can be sorted and routed on the LogisticsOS platform. This lets teams move quickly by scanning a large volume of packages while routing is handled as packages arrive in the LogisticsOS parcel log. This allows your team to:
  • Review on the web in a full-screen view to confirm OCR results, make changes, and verify recipient details.

  • Decide what happens next once details are confirmed, such as assigning a route, selecting a locker workflow, or flagging an exception for follow-up.

  • Keep the parcel moving with the same parcel record available for sorting, routing, locker placement, and delivery tracking.

  • Maintain traceability by leveraging LogisticsOS, which records each receiving step, including the actions taken, when they occurred, and who completed them.
