Learn how to turn on your Brother QL-820NWB printer, and connect it to your network or kiosk (iPad) via Bluetooth.
Note:
If you received your printer and iPad together from the FacilityOS team, the printer is already configured for badge printing via Bluetooth. To set up things quickly, see Quick setup for your kiosk and printer.
What is in the box
When you receive the box containing the printer, it includes the following items:
- 1 Brother QL-820NWB printer
- 1 USB cable
- 1 AC power cord
- 1 AC adapter
- 1 DK-2205 roll inserted into the printer
If any items are missing, contact your customer success representative or the FacilityOS support team.
Turn the printer on
- Connect the AC adapter to the AC power cord.
- Connect the AC adapter to the printer.
- Connect the AC power cord to a grounded AC power outlet.
- On the printer, press and hold the power
button to turn it on.
Connect the printer
You can connect the Brother QL-820NWB printer to your network or connect it to your iPad via Bluetooth. For the easiest and most reliable experience, we recommend connecting via Bluetooth.
Connect via Bluetooth
- On the printer, press Menu.
- Using the up [▲] and down [▼] buttons, select Bluetooth, then press OK.
- Select Bluetooth (On/Off), then press OK.
- Select ON, then press OK.

On the iPad, pair the printer with Bluetooth. For more information, see Apple's article, Pair a Bluetooth accessory.
Note:
In the iPad Bluetooth device list, the printer name starts with "QL-820NWB".
Connect to your network
- To connect via Wi-Fi, see Brother's guide, Connecting Using Wi-Fi.
- To connect via a wired LAN, see Brother's guide, Connecting Using a Wired LAN (QL-820NWB only).
Obtain the IP address
If you connected the printer to your network, you will need the printer's IP address to set it up with VisitorOS.
- On the printer, press Menu.
- Using the up [▲] and down [▼] buttons, select WLAN, then Press OK.
- Select WLAN Status, then Press OK.
- Select Infrastructure Mode, then Press OK.
- Find the IP address next to "IP Addr".
