Set up your Brother HL-L3280CDW printer

Learn how to set up your Brother HL-L3280CDW printer. Then connect the printer to your Wi-Fi to obtain the printer's IP address.

Set up the printer

To unbox your printer and install the toner cartridges and badge paper, complete steps 1 to 4 in Brother’s Quick Setup Guide.

Configure badge paper settings

After you load the badge paper and turn on the printer, update the tray settings so the printer uses the correct paper type and size.

1. Using the touchpad on the printer, tap Settings.
2. Tap Tray Setting.
3. Tap Paper Type, then select Thick Paper.
4. In "Tray Settings", tap Paper Size, then select A4.

Connect the printer to your Wi-Fi

1. Using the touchpad on the printer, tap Settings.
2. Tap Network.
3. Tap WLAN(Wi-Fi).
4. Tap Find Wi-Fi Network.

5. Select the Wi-Fi network you want to connect to, then tap OK.

   Important:

   The printer must connect to the same Wi-Fi network as your kiosk (iPad).

6. Enter the Wi-Fi password, then tap OK.

Obtain the IP address

After you connect the printer to your network, find the printer’s IP address. You need the IP address to connect the printer to VisitorOS and your kiosk (iPad).

1. Using the touchpad on the printer, tap Settings.
2. Tap Network.
3. Tap WLAN(Wi-Fi).
4. Tap TCP/IP.
5. Find "IP Address", then note the IP address shown on the printer.
