Manage visitor types

Visitor types let you define categories for the people who visit your facility, such as contractors, employees, or interviewees.

Who can use this feature?

  • Users with the Account Administrator or Site Administrator role, or any user with permission to manage Sites
  • Available on all tiers

Access visitor type settings

  1. From the left sidebar in VisitorOS, click the Settings Screenshot of the Settings icon. icon, then select Sites.

  2. Select a site.
  3. Click Personalization.
  4. Under "Visitor Types", click Configure to open the Visitor Types settings panel.

Visitor type settings

After you open the Visitor Types settings panel, you can add, edit, disable, delete, or reorder visitor types.

Tip:

To apply changes across multiple sites, open the "Visitor Types" settings panel and select Apply to All Sites with Default Settings. All sites with this setting selected will sync when you make changes.

Add a new visitor type

In the "Visitor Types" settings panel, you can add a visitor type in one of the following ways:

  • To use a pre-built visitor type, under "Add Visitor Type", select an option from the Select Type drop-down menu.
  • To create a custom visitor type, click New Visitor Type, then edit the visitor type details. For more information, see Edit visitor type.

Edit a visitor type

Edit a visitor type by clicking the Edit edit_cion.png icon in the "Visitor Types" settings panel.

Setting Description
Title The internal name for the visitor type. This name is only visible in the Visitor Types settings panel.
Screen label The name of the visitor type that is shown when signing in, creating an event, or adding a guest. If your site supports multiple languages, you can add translations.
Hide on Devices (Advanced Setting)  Hides the visitor type from guests during pre-registration and sign-in. Your users can still select the visitor type when creating events, inviting guests, or signing in people visiting your site.
Auto Assign Host Automatically assigns a host when the visitor type is selected. The host can still be changed during sign-in.
Badge Header Color

Sets the badge header color for the visitor type. The color badge printing add-on is required.

To configure this setting, contact FacilityOS Support.

Disable or delete visitor types

Disable visitor types if you want to temporarily remove them from the sign-in and sign-out process. Delete visitor types if you want to permanently remove them.
  • To disable a visitor type, clear the checkbox next to it.

  • To delete a visitor type, click the Delete trash_icon.png icon. If you later recreate the visitor type, you must apply your settings again.

Reorder visitor types

You can change the order in which visitor types appear during sign-in and sign-out. To reorder visitor types, click and drag them to a new position in the list.
